Flight VN641, carrying 161 passengers on an Airbus A321, marked the inauguration of the new route.
It departed from Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City at 10:25 am on Sunday and landed at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, the tourism capital of Bali, at 3:00 pm the same day.
To celebrate the launch of the new route, Vietnam Airlines organized welcoming activities at both airports and gave souvenirs to passengers on the first flight.
During the initial phase, Vietnam Airlines will operate four round-trip flights per week on the Ho Chi Minh City – Bali route, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
From next month, the frequency will increase to seven flights per week to meet growing market demand.
Ho Chi Minh City – Bali is Vietnam Airlines’ second route to Indonesia, following the Hanoi – Jakarta route.
The launch of the route is a strategic move by the airline to expand its flight network in Southeast Asia and meet the increasing travel demand between the two countries.
The route also enhances the potential of the recovering Vietnam-Indonesia travel market after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The inauguration of the Ho Chi Minh City – Bali direct air route coincides with the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Indonesia, carrying important diplomatic significance as the two countries intensify cooperation in trade, investment, and cultural exchange.
