At a meeting with Khanh Hoa authorities on Monday, ACV representatives said the airport is expected to serve around 8.3 million passengers this year.

Under the plan, ACV will build a new Terminal T1 with an annual capacity of nine million passengers and connect it with the existing Terminal T1, bringing the combined capacity to 11 million passengers a year.

The corporation also plans to build a cargo terminal and warehouse with an annual handling capacity of 50,000 metric tons, while expanding the airport's aircraft apron.

The expansion will add 11 parking stands to the east and south of the existing apron, bringing the total number of aircraft stands to 44.

ACV has asked Khanh Hoa authorities to approve the plan and recognize ACV as the investor, allowing it to proceed with the projects.

It also proposed support with land procedures for existing facilities, along with exemptions or reductions in land rental fees and assistance with land clearance and handover procedures.

Doan Quang Huy, deputy director of the Khanh Hoa Department of Finance, said the department would coordinate with relevant agencies to review the project's scale, land procedures and total investment in accordance with regulations.

Regarding ACV's request for land rental exemptions or reductions, Tran Phong, secretary of the Khanh Hoa Party Committee, asked relevant agencies to work with ACV immediately to complete the procedures in accordance with regulations.

He also instructed the Department of Finance to coordinate with the Department of Construction to complete investment procedures on schedule and ensure the projects are implemented promptly.

Dedicated facility for private aircraft planned

Under the approved master plan for Cam Ranh International Airport for 2021-30, with a vision to 2050, nearly 1.6 hectares of land between Terminals T1 and T3 has been earmarked for a general aviation terminal.

The facility will serve private and government aircraft, helicopters and other specialized aviation operations, helping expand the airport's aviation service ecosystem.

By 2030, Cam Ranh International Airport is planned to meet ICAO Code 4E standards, with an annual capacity of around 19 million passengers and 50,000 metric tons of cargo.
