The ministry has also announced holiday options for employees at businesses, with employers required to notify workers of their arrangements at least 30 days in advance.

Civil servants and public employees will take their Lunar New Year break from Thursday, February 4, to Wednesday, February 10, 2027, covering five statutory holiday days and two compensatory days off because two weekly rest days coincide with the holiday.

The break will run from the 28th day of the last lunar month of the Year of the Horse to the fifth day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Goat.

For National Day, civil servants and public employees will have four consecutive days off, from Thursday, September 2, to Sunday, September 5, 2027.

The break includes two statutory holidays on September 2 and 3, followed by the weekend.

The ministry has asked agencies and public service units to arrange staffing to ensure their operations continue and public services are maintained throughout the holidays.

Personnel must be assigned to handle unexpected tasks.

Agencies that do not have regular Saturdays and Sundays off must arrange their holiday schedules in line with their work plans and legal regulations.

For employees at businesses, employers may choose one of three Lunar New Year holiday arrangements, depending on their operating conditions.

The options are one day off at the end of the Year of the Horse and four days at the beginning of the Year of the Goat; two days at the end of the old lunar year and three days at the beginning of the new year; or three days at the end of the old year and two days at the beginning of the new year.

The ministry said employers must ensure that the holiday period is no shorter than the statutory entitlement under the Labor Code and that arrangements allow workers to prepare for the holiday while taking business conditions into account.

For National Day, employers may give workers September 2 and either September 1 or September 3 off.

If a weekly rest day coincides with a statutory public holiday, employees are entitled to a compensatory day off on the next working day.

The ministry encourages employers to follow the holiday schedules applicable to civil servants and public employees, provided they fully comply with labor regulations.

It also encourages employers to offer workers more favorable arrangements.

The ministry has called on ministries, agencies and local authorities to develop plans to maintain production and business activities, ensure adequate supplies of goods and services, stabilize prices and markets, and balance labor supply and demand before, during and after the holidays.
