After losing the first two sets 17-25 and 24-26, host Vietnam rallied to take the next three sets 25-17, 25-22, and 16-14 in front of a home crowd.
The victory marked Vietnam’s first-ever championship in the tournament and ended Thailand’s dominance in the region.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet made key lineup changes after the second set, including bringing in outside hitter Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, who helped stabilize the team’s defense and attack.
Star spiker Tran Thi Bich Tuyen delivered the match-winning point in the final set.
Thailand had appeared on course for a straight-sets victory but was unable to hold off a resurgent Vietnamese side that capitalized on strong defense and improved coordination to complete the comeback.
The SEA V.League features top teams from Southeast Asia and serves as a key competition in the regional volleyball calendar.
