According to the Tien Giang Border Guard Command, the rescue took place in the waters off Go Cong Dong District.
At 4:30 pm on Thursday, the Tan Thanh Border Guard Station received a report from Le Van Oanh that Nguyen Thanh Sang, 41, of Go Cong Dong District, was traveling by small boat from Phu Tan Commune in Tan Phu Dong District to Tan Thanh Commune in Go Cong Dong District.
At around 3:00 pm, Sang had called Oanh to report that his boat had broken down near the old lighthouse in the Cua Tieu shipping channel, close to buoys No. 7 and 8.
After that call, Oanh lost contact with Sang and asked nearby clam-harvesting boats to search the area, but they were unable to locate him.

Following the report, Tan Thanh Border Guard Station deployed search teams and mobilized local boats, but the search yielded no results.
At approximately 7:15 am on Friday, Vo Anh Khoa, 36, a local fisherman from Tan Phu Dong District, discovered Sang clinging to a wind turbine structure off Tan Thanh Commune and signaling for help.
Khoa was about one nautical mile away when he spotted Sang and sailed over to rescue him, then alerted the border guards for assistance.
Military medics conducted an initial health check, and authorities said Sang was in stable condition.
