Investigators of the provincial Department of Public Security announced on Monday that these traffickers transported narcotics from Laos and the Vietnamese provinces of Nghe An and Phu Tho into Thanh Hoa Province.
The first ring was cracked on August 21, when police discovered traffickers transporting methamphetamine pills from Phu Tho to Thanh Hoa.
The operation was led by Le Manh Linh, a 31-year-old resident of Thanh Hoa, in collaboration with Trang A Sia, an ethnic Mong individual from Phu Tho Province.
Police arrested Linh, Sia, and eight others, confiscating 30,000 methamphetamine tablets, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
In a separate case, police dismantled a drug trafficking ring operating from Nghe An to Thanh Hoa, headed by Vu Anh Thang, a 34-year-old resident of Thanh Hoa.
Thang worked with Vi Van Nhan, 55, from Nghe An Province to trade narcotics.
Thang, Vi, and two additional suspects were apprehended while 21,000 methamphetamine pills, three military-grade firearms, 32 rounds of ammunition, and 16 bladed weapons, including bayonets and swords, were seized.
On September 4, the province’s police officers continued to break up a cross-border drug smuggling ring from Laos into Vietnam.
The ring was led by Tran Quoc Hoai, 51, a Thanh Hoa resident with three prior convictions.
Hoai and 11 other suspects were arrested, while police seized over 19,500 methamphetamine pills during the raid.
The provincial investigators have pledged to continue their investigation and ensure strict legal action against all parties involved.
