Vietnam's international rail service to China, which resumed in late May after a five-year COVID-19 hiatus, had carried nearly 4,000 passengers by July's end, primarily tourists, business travelers, and families, according to the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR).

The train, departing from Hanoi's Gia Lam station, now reaches Nanning, China, in 11 hours, down from 14 hours, with simplified immigration processes.

Operating every Tuesday and Friday, the service extends to key Chinese cities like Guilin North, Hengyang, Changsha, Zhengzhou, and Beijing West along China's South-North rail artery, catering to tourism, work, and family visits.

The VNR expanded ticket sales for the Gia Lam-Nanning route to all national stations, scrapping earlier restrictions. Passengers with valid visas and passports can buy tickets using digital images, backed by a written guarantee, while children aged 4-12 get a 50% fare cut.
