At the ceremony, Nguyen Viet Quang, vice-chairman and CEO of Vingroup, shared that with a total area of 2,870 hectares, the project is envisioned as one of the world-class ESG mega-urban areas, marking a pivotal milestone in the sustainable urban development strategy of Ho Chi Minh City and the southeast region.

Notably, Vingroup plans to invest in an offshore wind power system located 10km from the coast, which will supply renewable energy to the entire urban complex.

The project’s centerpiece will be the 'Blue Wave Theater,' covering seven hectares and designed by leading global architecture firm Gensler.

The theater will have a capacity of 5,000 seats and include the largest convention, wedding, and exhibition space in Southeast Asia, along with an outdoor square accommodating up to 50,000 people.

This mega-urban area will feature a wide range of amenities, including the world’s largest artificial saltwater lagoon, the 443-hectare Paradise Lagoon, the five-star Landmark Harbour international port, two golf courses designed by Tiger Woods and Robert Trent Jones II, and the 30,000-square-meter Winter Wonderland amusement park featuring an ice rink.

Speaking at the groundbreaking event, Duong Ngoc Hai, vice-chairman of the administration in Ho Chi Minh City, described the Can Gio sea reclamation urban area as a key strategic project with significant implications for the city's future. It is expected to create tens of thousands of jobs, promote the growth of services and trade, increase budget revenues, and improve residents' quality of life.

Once operational, the urban area is set to become a major destination in Ho Chi Minh City's strategy to position itself as an international hub for economy, finance, and tourism, in line with the city’s development vision.
