The provincial market surveillance agency announced on Monday that it was investigating a warehouse containing a large volume of suspected fake cosmetic products.
In mid-October, a market surveillance team, in collaboration with other units, raided a household business operated by a woman identified as N.T.H. in Thu Thua Commune.
Officials found a warehouse stocked with 25,745 products spanning 35 different types of goods.
The items included perfume, shampoo, shower gel, skin whitening cream, dishwashing liquid, and body lotion.
All the goods were unused and remained in original packaging.
While some products bore no labeling, many were marked with popular brand names, with packaging indicating origins from Thailand, Cambodia, and China.
At the time of inspection, the business owner failed to provide any invoices, receipts, or documents verifying the source or origin of the goods.
Officials determined that these goods lacked clear proof of origin and might have been smuggled into the country.
Eleven of the 35 product categories were identified as bearing trademarks registered and protected in Vietnam.
As such, market surveillance officials are now working with representatives from the affected brands to verify potential trademark infringement and determine the extent of any violations under Vietnamese law.
