The Vietnamese government has expressed support for developing multi-story pig farming models, an official announced at a press conference on Friday in Hanoi to announce the upcoming Vietstock 2025 Expo and Forum.

Duong Tat Thang, head of the Department of Livestock Production and Animal Health under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, said several corporations have proposed high-rise pig farming projects.

Although the model is new to Vietnam, he noted it is not prohibited.

A unit in Hanoi’s Quoc Oai experimented with multi-story pig farming more than 20 years ago.

“The government encourages and supports this model, provided it complies with regulations and standards for high-rise livestock farming,” Thang said, adding that officials have been authorized to study similar models in China.

This year’s Vietstock exhibition will showcase modern livestock technologies, including China’s multi-story pig farming systems and AI-based tools for environmental management and disease prevention.

Nguyen Phuong Thao, senior project director at Informa Markets, said the event will introduce advanced technologies suitable for both small and large-scale farms.

“We expect these innovations to be applied widely across Vietnam,” she said.

Vietstock 2025 will take place on October 8-10 at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center in Ho Chi Minh City, featuring more than 300 exhibitors from 40 countries across 13,000 square meters.

Organizers said the event will provide major opportunities for networking and cooperation in Vietnam’s rapidly growing livestock sector.
