The inauguration coincides with a series of major projects marking the 80th National Day of Vietnam on September 2.
Located in Dong Anh Commune, the center spans more than 900,000 square meters and is designed to host national and international political, economic, cultural, and tourism events.
Built in a record period of just under ten months, the complex cost over VND7 trillion (US$266.5 million).
Its centerpiece is the Kim Quy Exhibition Hall, a symbolic structure inspired by the legend of God Kim Quy at the ancient Co Loa Citadel.
Covering nearly 105,000 square meters and rising more than 56 meters high, it is the world’s largest circular exhibition hall.
The building features a main lobby and nine interconnected halls ranging from 9,000 to over 10,000 square meters each.
With a floor load capacity of up to five metric tons per square meter, the venue can accommodate large-scale industrial exhibitions and heavy machinery displays.
The Kim Quy Hall will serve as the main venue for the Exhibition of Economic and Social Achievements, scheduled for August 28 to September 5 in celebration of the National Day.

Beyond the indoor facilities, the complex features four outdoor exhibition plazas covering more than 200,000 square meters, ranking them among the top three worldwide in scale.
These plazas — North, South, West, and East — are designed for major festivals, oversized exhibitions, and world-class concerts, with the North Plaza alone able to accommodate 50,000 people.
The center also houses specialized functional areas including Exhibition Halls A and B, the VinPalace Conference Center, and five dedicated outdoor parking zones.
Designed as a modern commercial and service complex, it offers accessible facilities, on-site medical and emergency services, cafés, and quick-service dining outlets.
Aimed at becoming an international destination on par with Dubai in the UAE, Frankfurt in Germany, and Fiera Milano in Italy, the Vietnam Exhibition Center is expected to contribute to promoting Hanoi’s exhibition economy and welcome around 60 million domestic and international visitors each year.
