SPX Express, a delivery subsidiary of Shopee Vietnam, was fined VND200 million (US$7,650) for providing misleading information about its services to attract customers from competitors, in violation of Vietnam’s competition law.
TikiNow Smart Logistics, which handles deliveries for the Tiki platform, received an identical fine for similar violations, including overstating its delivery network and order volume capabilities.
SPX Express cooperated with investigators during the probe and took steps to mitigate the impact of its actions, the commission said.
The company operates its own warehousing and delivery network, allowing Shopee to manage logistics in-house without third-party partners.
Services include intra-city express delivery, interprovincial shipping, and cash-on-delivery.
TikiNow was found to have made exaggerated claims such as offering 100-percent nationwide delivery coverage and processing over one million orders per day.
The company later corrected its public statements, clarifying it reaches 34 provinces and cities and handles over one million orders per month.
Both firms updated their websites and marketing materials after the violations were identified and cooperated with authorities throughout the investigation, the commission added.
