On Tuesday, authorities in Ea Ktur Commune have launched an investigation into allegations circulating on social media that maggots were found in food served by Ni Ya Catering and have summoned the business owner for questioning.
According to Y Ngon, chairman of the local People’s Committee, officials visited the catering facility on Tuesday morning to inspect the premises and verify the origin of the food as well as the allegations shown in the video.
“We are conducting an on-site inspection to establish the facts. We will provide information to the media once the investigation is complete,” Y Ngon said.
He added that the commune would also meet with relevant agencies later on Tuesday to clarify the incident and handle any violations in accordance with the law if wrongdoing is found.
Earlier, a social media user posted a video showing a chicken dish being reheated over a stove at a housewarming party.
The footage appears to show numerous maggot-like larvae crawling through the chicken as it is being heated.
