The seafarer, identified as Heru Partiman, was rescued on March 18 by the Thailand-flagged vessel SEA VALARY (IMO 9552721) after being found adrift, according to Hai Nam Shipping Agency Co Ltd.
He was later received by border guards at Ba Ria-Vung Tau port and transferred to Ho Chi Minh City.
Colonel Tran Ngoc Tang, deputy commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard Command, said the handover was conducted in line with Vietnamese law and international conventions, and noted coordination with the Indonesian Consulate General.
Partiman expressed thanks to Vietnamese authorities for their assistance and support during his stay.
