Two Vietnamese delegations have recently won high awards at the 2014 International Physics Olympiad and the 2014 International Informatics Olympiad.
Four Vietnamese students won two silver medals and two bronzes at the 2014 International Informatics Olympiad, taking place from July 13 to 20 in Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.
Specifically, Nguyen Quang Dung from the Specialized High School under the Hanoi National University of Education and Ngo Hoang Anh Phuc from the Specialized High School of the Hanoi University of Science under the Vietnam National University garnered the two silver medals.
Meanwhile, the two bronze medals of the contest went to Do Xuan Viet and Nguyen Tien Trung Kien, both from the Specialized High School of the Hanoi University of Science under the Vietnam National University.
At the 2014 International Physics Olympiad hosted by Kazakhstan between July 13 and 21, five members of the Vietnamese team bagged three golden medals and two silvers.
The gold medalists are Cao Ngoc Thai from central Nghe An Province’s Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, Do Thi Bich Hue from the Specialized High School of the Hanoi University of Science under the Vietnam National University, and Vu Thanh Trung Nam from Hanoi-Amsterdam Specialized High School.
The two others who received silver medals are Dao Phuong Khoi from the Specialized High School of the Hanoi University of Science under the Vietnam National University and Pham Nguyen Tuan Anh from the High School for Gifted Students under the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City.
The Vietnamese team was in the top of 10 delegations with the highest scores at the physics competition.
This year, the International Physics Olympiad attracted 383 contestants from 84 countries and territories across the globe.
