In his welcoming remarks, Lam emphasized the special significance of Xi’s visit, which takes place as both nations celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the Vietnam-China Year of Humanistic Exchange.

He noted that Xi Jinping is the highest-ranking Chinese leader who has visited Vietnam the most in history and that this trip, his first official overseas visit in 2025, reflects the importance and priority that the Chinese Party, state, and Xi place on Vietnam and the bilateral ties.

Lam recalled the historic foundation of Vietnam-China ties, established 75 years ago, and highlighted the deep revolutionary bond between the two neighboring nations, forged during their respective struggles.

He highlighted that today’s partnership has evolved into a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and a Vietnam-China community with a shared future, reflecting strategic alignment and mutual trust.

The Vietnamese Party chief said both sides had just concluded productive talks, achieving broad and deep consensus on elevating bilateral relations in the new era of development.

He also praised President Xi’s meetings with other top Vietnamese officials, including State President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, calling them a strong catalyst for closer cooperation and shared prosperity.

Lam concluded by wishing Xi's state visit to Vietnam a great success, and wishing both Vietnam and China ever-growing prosperity and their people happiness.

In his response, Xi thanked the Vietnamese Party, government, and people for their warm and thoughtful reception.

He praised Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam led by Lam, the country would successfully achieve the goals set by the 13th National Party Congress and thrive in a new era.

He outlined the six-pronged approach to future cooperation: deeper political trust, stronger security and practical cooperation, firmer social foundations, closer multilateral coordination, and better control and resolution of differences.

Xi concluded by expressing hope that the two nations would continue working together to build a community with a shared future, jointly embarking on the path of socialist modernization and bringing more tangible benefits to the people of both countries.
