Doctors in Phu Quoc Island off Kien Giang Province in southern Vietnam recently saved the life of a South Korean octogenarian tourist who suffered a severe brain hemorrhage after a fall.
The 84-year-old tourist, who wished to not be named, received support from local authorities and hospital staff to return to his homeland safely.
He was then admitted to a hospital in South Korea for further care.
Vinmec Phu Quoc International General Hospital reported on Saturday that the male patient was admitted in a state of drowsiness, stiff neck, and weak limbs following a fall.
A CT scan revealed multiple brain hemorrhages and severe brain edema.
After consultation, doctors decided on conservative treatment.
Following resuscitation, the patient gradually regained alertness, improved muscle strength, and was able to move gently in bed.
The patient’s family then requested to transfer him back to South Korea for further treatment.
The hospital provided a doctor, nurse, equipment, and medicine to ensure his safe return by civil aircraft.
