Attended by Acting Vietnamese Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang and Japanese Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Koizumi Shinjiro, the event also featured the participation of nearly 100 enterprises from both nations.

The event came as the two countries celebrated over 50 years of diplomatic relations and nearly two years after they lifted their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, signaling a deepening and more effective phase of bilateral agricultural collaboration.

Speaking at the event, Minister Koizumi underlined that the signing demonstrated the efforts of Vietnamese and Japanese private enterprises.

“We believe Japanese technology can contribute to global food security and climate change mitigation,” he said.

“The 10 memoranda align well with our medium- and long-term vision for cooperation, especially in applying technology to boosting productivity and reducing greenhouse gas emissions,” he stressed.

Acting Minister Thang emphasized that the deals reflected mutual trust, interest, and commitment to agricultural cooperation – a field closely linked to livelihoods, food security, and sustainable development.

These deals are the proof of the strategic vision initiated and continually refined by both sides.

He said that while the world is facing multiple challenges of climate change and energy and food crises, the Vietnam-Japan agricultural cooperation has never been more crucial.

Acting Minister Thang proposed continued efforts to open markets to each country's agricultural products and to facilitate smoother trade in agricultural, forestry, and fishery goods.

He highlighted the importance of promoting new areas of cooperation, including organic farming, OCOP (One Commune One Product) items, bio-recycled byproducts, and agricultural services.

Also, he called for the development of a sustainable bilateral supply chain, from production and processing to distribution, to reduce costs, improve quality, and meet international standards.
