The competition was jointly organized by local authorities and the Silver Surf Jetboard Club from Friday to Sunday last week in Muong Lay Ward as part of the Da River flood-season tourism program for 2025–26.

A total of 45 athletes from across Vietnam competed in events including individual technical displays for men and women, team performances, engine-start speed contests, and freestyle routines.

This year's course was designed in the shape of Vietnam's S-shaped map and required riders to follow a route symbolically passing through the country's Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.

The freestyle title was won by a team from Hanoi, whose routine included towing Vietnam's national flag across the river.

Jetboarding, a motorized water sport introduced in Vietnam in 2019, has expanded to several major cities and provinces including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, and Quang Ninh, with national-level competitions held in recent years.

Local authorities said the jetboard championship was organized alongside other sporting events, including boat racing, kayaking, cycling and paragliding, drawing tens of thousands of visitors to Muong Lay during the period.
