Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology has established a Global Vietnamese Artificial Intelligence (AI) Experts Network under Decision No. 3335/QĐ-BKHCN.
The initiative aims to build a community of leading AI experts capable of connecting and mobilizing Vietnamese talent both at home and abroad to support science, technology and innovation while addressing real-world challenges in Vietnam.
The network will focus on AI research, development, applications and workforce training, helping strengthen the country's technological capabilities and support socio-economic development.
It also seeks to foster strategic AI platforms, models and products in priority sectors, including healthcare, education, smart cities, cybersecurity and national data systems.
The network will recruit and engage Vietnamese AI experts worldwide, creating mechanisms for knowledge sharing, mentorship and technology transfer in line with international standards while helping develop a highly skilled AI workforce.
The initiative will foster closer collaboration between research institutions, businesses and international AI experts to establish world-class research teams focused on solving real-world challenges.
The teams are expected to develop practical AI technologies and accelerate their commercialization.

The Ministry of Science and Technology will serve as the national agency responsible for overseeing and coordinating the network.
The science minister will chair the network, providing strategic direction and ensuring its alignment with Vietnam's national AI development programs and initiatives.
The network's vice chairs will be prominent AI experts responsible for bringing together researchers, policymakers, businesses and other stakeholders in the field.
An advisory council, appointed by the chair, will comprise prominent AI experts from Vietnam and abroad.
The council will provide strategic guidance, recommend priority initiatives and help connect experts with national projects and real-world challenges.
The National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) will act as the network's permanent secretariat, overseeing its implementation, coordination and day-to-day operations.
It will also develop and manage the network's digital platform and maintain its database of AI experts.
