According to the authority, this marks the seventh time Vietnam has been named Asia’s Leading Destination and the third time it has claimed the title of Asia’s Leading Heritage Destination.

These accolades are a testament to the remarkable development of Vietnam's tourism industry over the past few years.

The recognition highlights Vietnam’s growing appeal on the global tourism map.

Its allure stems from stunning natural landscapes such as Ha Long Bay, Son Doong Cave, Mu Cang Chai’s terraced fields, and Phu Quoc’s beaches, alongside a rich system of UNESCO-recognized cultural heritage, thousands of traditional festivals, ancient craft villages, and a vibrant cuisine — all of which enhance Vietnam’s competitiveness in both regional and international tourism markets.

Such international recognition comes at a time when Vietnam’s tourism sector is experiencing significant growth.

According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, the country welcomed 15.4 million international visitors in January-September, a 21.5-percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.

In addition to the two national awards, nearly 40 Vietnamese businesses and destinations were also honored across various categories.

Hanoi continued to affirm its appeal by winning the Asia’s Leading City Destination and Asia’s Leading City Short Break Deétination titles.

Ho Chi Minh City was named Asia’s Leading Festival and Event Destination, while its Department of Tourism received the award for Asia’s Leading City Tourist Board for its effective initiatives in destination promotion and management.

Hoi An retained its status as Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination.

Ninh Binh in the northern region, with its spectacular Trang An landscape, won the Asia’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination honor.

Vung Tau was recognized as Asia’s Leading Coastal City Break Destination, and Van Don International Airport in northern Vietnam was named Asia’s Leading Regional Airport.

In aviation and hospitality, Vietnam Airlines was awarded Asia’s Leading Airline Brand.

Numerous Vietnamese resorts and hotels were also honored, underscoring the country’s progress toward meeting world-class accommodation standards.

Vietnam’s tourism gains stronger global recognition

Founded in 1993, the WTA is often referred to as the 'Oscars of the travel industry.'

It is held annually to honor outstanding service providers in travel, tourism, and hospitality.

Winners are selected based on votes from global travel experts and the general public.

Vietnam’s consistent success at this prestigious event reflects its growing prominence in international tourism and strengthens its position in the hearts of global travelers.

The awards also serve as a powerful motivator, helping Vietnamese tourism further assert itself as a rising star on the Asian travel map.
