The 2017 APEC logo design competition, which will close on April 4, encourages the participation of all professional and amateur artists across Vietnam.
The winner of the contest, meant to choose the logo for the 2017 APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) forum will take home a prize worth VND30 million (US$1,345).
The event, jointly organized by the Agency for Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Committee for APEC 2017, kicked off in March and lasts until April 4.
Professional and amateur artists throughout Vietnam are encouraged to participate in the contest.
Entries must feature the phrase ‘APEC Vietnam 2017,’ reflect the highlights of Vietnamese traditions, and represent five components of next year’s forum, namely dynamism, creativity, action, unity, and movement to the future.
The winning entry, which will be honored with a VND30 million prize, will be used as the official logo of the APEC 2017 event and other APEC-related activities in Vietnam.

The APEC is a regional economic forum established in 1989, comprising 21 member states, including Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam among others.
The forum is aimed at creating greater prosperity for the peoples of the region by promoting balanced, inclusive, sustainable, innovative and secure growth as well as accelerating regional economic integration.
Vietnam joined the forum in 1998 and successfully chaired APEC 2006 and the sixth APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting in September 2014, both in Hanoi.
This year’s APEC forum will take place in Peru’s capital city of Lima in November, while the 2017 meeting is scheduled to be convened in Da Nang.
