A day earlier, the official Facebook page of the U.S. Embassy in Vietnam and the X account of the Board of Peace stated that Vietnam had become a founding member of the Board of Peace, an American government-led international organization.

The U.S. side welcomed Vietnam’s participation.

At the ministry’s regular press briefing on Thursday, spokesperson Pham Thu Hang reiterated Vietnam’s consistent stance of supporting and being ready to contribute to joint efforts by the international community to resolve conflicts and disputes through peaceful means, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter, while respecting the fundamental rights of the parties involved.

“As one of the first countries to recognize the State of Palestine, Vietnam welcomes all efforts to bring lasting peace to the Gaza Strip for the benefit of the Palestinian people, on the basis of international law and the United Nations Charter,” she said.

In that spirit, Vietnam supports the peace plan for ending the Gaza conflict, adopted by the UN Security Council in Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025, and it has accepted the invitation to join the Board of Peace to implement this plan.

“Vietnam will actively cooperate with members of the Board of Peace in implementing the peace plan, thereby ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip and promoting sustainable peace in the Middle East on the basis of a two-state solution in line with international law, the UN Charter, and relevant UN resolutions,” Hang added.

On January 16, U.S. President Donald Trump sent a letter to Party General Secretary To Lam, inviting him and Vietnam to join the Board of Peace as a founding member, together with the international community, to promote a sustainable peace solution to the Israel–Palestine conflict in the Gaza Strip.

In his reply, Party General Secretary Lam emphasized Vietnam’s consistent position of supporting and standing ready to contribute to international efforts to resolve conflicts and disagreements through peaceful means, in accordance with international law and the UN Charter, and with respect for the fundamental rights of the parties involved.

He accepted the invitation and affirmed that Vietnam was willing to participate as a founding member of the Board of Peace, working with the United States and the international community to make positive contributions toward a long-term and comprehensive solution to the Middle East peace process, including the establishment of a Palestinian state coexisting peacefully alongside the State of Israel.

A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended the signing ceremony for the Charter of the Board of Peace on ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip on January 22, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
