The trip is made at the invitation of Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., who is also chair of ASEAN in 2026.

The summit will focus on advancing ASEAN Community-building, with discussions on energy security, food security, and the safety of ASEAN nationals, as well as other pressing regional and international issues.

PM Hung is expected to deliver key speeches outlining Vietnam’s foreign policy priorities from the 14th National Party Congress, while presenting proposals to strengthen ASEAN’s resilience against global challenges, including instability in the Middle East.

He will also meet with other leaders to promote bilateral cooperation and exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

The Vietnamese delegation will coordinate closely with the Philippines and other ASEAN members to contribute to the summit’s success.

Vietnam joined ASEAN on July 28, 1995. Since then, the country has consistently prioritized ASEAN in its foreign policy, actively participating in all pillars of the community and contributing to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region.

Vietnam’s role has been highly valued by ASEAN and its member states.
