Speaking to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Sunday, a representative of the association confirmed that the organization had submitted a document to pertinent ministries and agencies, urging action against these unfounded rumors.

The document highlights that certain social media platforms have disseminated false information regarding the production of artificial chicken eggs in Vietnam, causing concerns among consumers and adversely affecting the poultry egg industry.

There is no scientific evidence supporting the existence of artificial eggs that mimic the characteristics of natural chicken eggs, it said.

A representative from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine in Tay Ninh Province, southern Vietnam also highlighted that these unfounded rumors have severely impacted the poultry farming industry.

The department has called on pertinent agencies to promptly investigate the origins of these conjectures and to impose strict penalties on those responsible for spreading them.

Le Van Quyet, deputy chairman of the Southeast Poultry Association, noted that the production cost of industrial chicken eggs at farms currently ranges from VND1,100 (US$0.04) to VND1,400 ($0.05) apiece.

He emphasized that manufacturing artificial eggs, if possible, would likely incur higher costs than real eggs, rendering such endeavors economically unviable.

Quyet added that the dissemination of baseless rumors, such as the current artificial egg claims, has been occurring frequently, significantly affecting the domestic poultry industry.

Experts have advised that in addition to addressing false rumors, local management agencies should strengthen the control of egg quality throughout the production and consumption chain.
