According to information released by the provincial administration on Thursday, the two proposed projects include Hoa Binh 5.1 Wind Power Plant and Dong Hai 1 Wind Power Plant (Phase 3).
The Hoa Binh 5.1 wind power plant will be built in Vinh Hau Commune with 16 turbines and a capacity of 80MW.
Meanwhile, the Dong Hai 1 wind power plant’s phase 3 will be developed in Dong Hai Commune, featuring 8 to 10 turbines and a capacity of 50MW.
This Mekong Delta province currently operates 16 wind power projects with a total capacity of 870.2MW, making renewable energy a significant contributor to the province’s industrial structure and economic growth.
Two additional projects, Ca Mau 1A and Ca Mau 1B, with a combined capacity of 176MW, are expected to be completed soon.
In addition, 10 other wind power projects are under construction, while 22 projects with a total capacity of 1,393MW are included in the province’s planning and have already attracted investor interest.
Alongside wind energy, rooftop solar and self-produced, self-consumed solar power are gaining popularity among businesses and households.
State-run Ca Mau Power Company currently manages 2,827 rooftop solar customers with a total capacity of more than 295MWp.
For self-produced solar, 189 customers have installed systems, with 75 officially notifying the electricity sector (6.9MWp capacity) and 114 yet to notify (4.7MWp capacity).
