He made the remarks during a policy address at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on Monday, as part of his state visit to Egypt from August 3 to 6.
The president emphasized that Vietnam always respects, values, and takes great pride in its diplomatic ties with all 22 member states of the Arab League, noting that cooperation across multiple sectors is increasingly substantive and effective.
He expressed confidence that the traditional friendship and partnership between Vietnam and Arab countries generally—and with Egypt specifically—will continue to flourish, grounded in shared history, mutual trust, and a common aspiration for development.
To deepen and sustain this multifaceted cooperation, Cuong called for strengthening political trust as a solid foundation for all-round collaboration with Egypt and other Arab nations.
He observed that the economies of Vietnam and Arab League states are highly complementary, a structure that creates favorable conditions for strengthening substantive, diversified cooperation spanning trade, investment, science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
Cuong also mentioned that the two sides have especially strong potential to boost collaboration in solar and wind energy, green hydrogen production and energy storage technologies—areas that can combine Arab capital and technical capacity with Vietnam’s growing renewable energy capabilities.
“Drawing on a legacy of solidarity, close ties, and a cherished tradition of friendship, Vietnam hopes to write a new chapter in multifaceted cooperation with its fellow Arab nations in pursuit of peace, partnership and development,” he affirmed.
He pointed out that the world is simultaneously grappling with unprecedented challenges, ranging from persistent traditional security flashpoints to emerging non-traditional threats such as climate change, food and water insecurity, and escalating cyber risks.
Rising protectionism, trade tensions, and geopolitical rivalry are fragmenting the global economy and eroding the legitimate interests of developing countries like Vietnam and Arab states.
In response, he called for renewed commitment to multilateralism, strict respect for international law, and strengthened South–South cooperation, especially between Vietnam and Arab nations.
He also urged Arab governments to provide greater support to more than 30,000 Vietnamese workers employed in countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE.
He encouraged broader cultural and artistic exchanges as well as more scholarship programs, particularly for Vietnamese students learning Arabic in the region.
Regarding the current Middle East crisis, President Cuong expressed grave concern over the ongoing violence and prolonged humanitarian crisis in the region.
He urged all parties involved to pursue peaceful, sustainable solutions through dialogue and in accordance with international law to resolve regional conflicts and differences.
