The agency said the products contained Cyclotetrasiloxane and Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, substances no longer permitted under updated ASEAN cosmetic regulations.

The recall was issued in line with conclusions adopted at the 42nd meeting of the ASEAN Cosmetic Committee and its scientific body, it said.

The suspension and recall apply to all unexpired batches listed in the decision.

Companies named in the decision were instructed to notify distributors and retailers, receive returned products, and organize recall and destruction in accordance with regulations, and submit reports to the agency by March 26.

Provincial and municipal health departments were directed to halt the sale and use of the affected products and strengthen inspections.

A DAV leader told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper the move was intended to ensure compliance with ASEAN cosmetic management commitments.
