During the call, PM Chinh congratulated Singapore on the successful organization of its 14th General Election, which resulted in a victory for the People’s Action Party (PAP), whose secretary-general is PM Wong.
PM Chinh also conveyed congratulations from Vietnam’s Party General Secretary To Lam to PM Wong and the PAP leadership.
He praised the increased popular vote as a sign of strong public trust in the PAP’s leadership and PM Wong’s personal credibility, calling the election results a continuation of the values that built the 'Singapore miracle.'
Expressing full confidence in PM Wong’s leadership, the Vietnamese government leader said he believes Singapore will remain stable and prosperous under PM Wong’s guidance, navigating challenges and ensuring national progress.
As for Vietnam-Singapore bilateral ties, PM Chinh proposed that both nations enhance economic cooperation and expand Singapore’s investment in Vietnam, particularly in high-tech, renewable energy, smart infrastructure, and sustainable urban development sectors.
He also recommended boosting cooperation in offshore wind power exports, carbon credit trading, financial innovation, port development, and combating transnational crime.
In response, PM Wong thanked PM Chinh and his spouse for the warm reception during his recent visit to Vietnam, as well as for the congratulatory messages from Vietnamese leaders.
He credited PAP’s electoral success to the dedication of Party members in building public trust and highlighted the strong ties between the peoples and leadership of both nations.
The two PMs agreed to urge relevant ministries to implement key outcomes from recent high-level visits and to deepen exchanges through Party channels and people-to-people interactions.
They tasked their foreign ministries with finalizing the 2025-30 action plan for the Vietnam-Singapore comprehensive strategic partnership within this year.
PM Chinh welcomed the upcoming visit of the PAP’s young leadership delegation to Vietnam for experience-sharing in Party building, governance, and community engagement.
Both leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual concern.
In light of ongoing global and regional shifts, particularly in trade and investment, the two PMs agreed to strengthen consultation and coordination, and support each other at regional and international forums, especially within ASEAN and APEC, for peace, stability, and shared interests.
They also agreed to continue bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the upcoming ASEAN Summit in Malaysia, scheduled to take place on May 26-27.
