Vietnam to showcase submarine, naval air forces in National Day parade

The parade, set for September 2 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of National Day and the August Revolution, will include forces from the Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Border Defense, and other military branches.

Submarines, surface ships, and naval aircraft will participate in a maritime formation as part of the event.

Vice Admiral Tran Thanh Nghiem, Commander of the Vietnam People’s Navy, inspected preparations at Naval Air Brigade 954, which will participate in the maritime component of the National Day parade, in south-central Khanh Hoa Province on Thursday.

“The brigade must treat this as a key political mission and a great honor,” Nghiem told officers, urging them to ensure absolute flight safety and full readiness for the parade.

Brigade 954 has been training to operate modern aircraft and maintain high technical performance in the lead-up to the parade.

The unit reported strong progress in the first half of 2025, according to a defense ministry statement.

General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense, said on Thursday that this year’s parade would include full participation from land, sea, and air forces, with a special emphasis on modern equipment.

The main event will take place at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi.

Preparations include rehearsals scheduled for August 27 and 30, with backup dates on August 28 and 31 in case of weather or operational delays.
