Vietnam welcomes 12.2 million int’l tourists in January-July

In July alone, international arrivals reached over 1.5 million, a seven-percent rise compared to June and a 35.5-percent increase over the same period last year.

Air travel accounted for the majority of the arrivals with 1.3 million visitors, followed by land and sea entries.

China remained Vietnam's largest source of international tourists with over 391,000 arrivals, followed by South Korea.

Other major markets included Taiwan, Japan, and India.

Several European markets also recorded significant month-on-month growth in July, such as Belgium (up 278 percent), Denmark (up 249 percent), the Netherlands (up 207 percent), and Czechia (up 98 percent).

In terms of domestic tourism, July saw an estimated 15.5 million domestic travelers, including 10.3 million overnight stays.

In January-July, domestic tourism topped 93 million.

Tourism revenue for the seven-month period was estimated at around VND616 trillion (US$23.5 billion).

According to tourism experts, the international travel market in 2025 is showing several positive signs.

While the summer period from May to August is traditionally considered the low season, international arrivals to Vietnam have remained strong and stable throughout.

A representative from a cruise service provider in Ha Long Bay in northern Quang Ninh Province reported that many international tourists have already booked tours for the year-end period, particularly around Christmas and New Year holidays.

With the current growth trajectory, Vietnam is on track to achieve its target of welcoming 22 to 23 million international visitors in 2025.
