Vietnam welcomes record nearly 14 million int’l visitors in January-July, Russians surge 174%

Vietnam received 1.67 million international visitors in July alone, according to data from the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance.

The strong performance puts the tourism sector on track to achieve its target of welcoming 25 million international visitors this year.

China remained Vietnam's largest source market, with around 3.1 million visitors, accounting for 22.2 percent of total international arrivals.

South Korea ranked second with 2.4 million visitors.

Russia ranked third among Vietnam's source markets, with 864,000 visitors, up 174 percent from the same period in 2025 and more than double the 2019 figure. Russia was also Vietnam's largest European source market in the period.

Europe was the standout region in terms of growth, with international visitor numbers rising by an average of 53.4 percent year on year.

Besides Russia, several other European markets recorded strong growth, including Poland, up 51.3 percent; the Czech Republic, 28.6 percent; Sweden, 24.7 percent; and Switzerland, 21.7 percent.

These markets all benefit from Vietnam's visa exemption policy, highlighting the effectiveness of the country's measures aimed at facilitating entry and boosting international tourist arrivals.

In Asia, the Philippines recorded the fastest growth, with arrivals rising 63.6 percent. Other markets also posted strong gains, including India, up 42.9 percent, and Cambodia, 40.8 percent.

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism said the continued double-digit growth in international arrivals demonstrates the country's growing appeal as a tourist destination.

The results also reflect the impact of visa policies, expanded air connectivity and efforts to promote Vietnam's tourism image internationally.

Vietnam is entering its peak season for international tourism in August, raising expectations that the country will achieve its international tourist arrival target this year.
