Vietnam win 2 gold medals at Asian Athletics Relay Championships after defeating China

The women’s 4x400m relay team of Quach Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Hang, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh, and Nguyen Thi Ngoc claimed the gold medal on Sunday, continuing Vietnam’s strong tradition in the event at the continental level.

In the final, the Vietnamese quartet crossed the finish line first in 3 minutes 31.16 seconds, ahead of host nation China, which finished in 3:32.68, and Sri Lanka in 3:33.17.

All four runners are key members of the Vietnamese women’s 4x400m relay squad and have consistently been among the country’s leading athletes in the discipline.

Later the same day, the Vietnamese men’s 4x400m relay team also made headlines by securing another gold medal.

The quartet of Le Ngoc Phuc, Tran Dinh Son, Vu Ngoc Khanh, and Ta Ngoc Tuong edged out China to take the top spot on the podium.

The Vietnamese team recorded a winning time of 3:02.60, while China finished second in 3:03.23. Sri Lanka claimed the bronze medal with a time of 3:03.33.

A day earlier, Vietnam’s mixed 4x400m relay team placed fifth, clocking 3:18.58.

The 2026 Asian Athletics Relay Championships took place in Zhejiang, China from Saturday to Sunday, bringing together some of Asia’s top national teams.

The competition featured events including the men’s and women’s 4x100m relays, men’s and women’s 4x400m relays, and the mixed 4x400m relay.

The championships serve as an important platform for teams preparing for the 2026 Asian Games and future world athletics competitions.
