Nguyen Thi Thu Trang and Nguyen Thi Khanh Ly were selected for Vietnam’s starting line-up, while the Philippines fielded Sucalit Jean Marie and Sinogbuhan Abegail.

The Vietnamese pair showed superior skills from the start of the first set.

Ly took on most of the duties, from receiving and setting to attacking and blocking.

Trang also played a key role by setting up well-placed balls for her teammate to finish.

The Philippine pair stayed close during the opening points, but Vietnam gradually pulled away to lead 8-3 and then 10-6.

The Philippines faced an additional setback when Sucalit appeared to suffer an injury late in the first set and was temporarily replaced by Nelly Jay.

The adjustment did little to change the momentum.

Ly and Trang maintained their advantage and won the first set 15-8.

The second set was even more straightforward for Vietnam, as the pair quickly built a 7-1 lead.

Playing with confidence, Ly continued to produce accurate and eye-catching attacks, helping Vietnam close out the set 15-4.

With a quick 2-0 victory, Vietnam’s women’s doubles sepak takraw team secured the gold medal at the Games.

It was Vietnam’s second gold medal at this year’s Games as of Tuesday morning.

Vietnam claimed its first gold medal at the Games on September 22, when its women's karate team won the team kata final against Iran,

The country’s sports delegation is targeting more than four gold medals at the Games, held from September 19 to October 4 in Japan.
