After two days of group-stage competition on Wednesday and Thursday, the tournament concluded its opening phase, determining the 16 players who would progress to the next round.

Vietnam’s sole survivor was Tu, who finished as runner-up at the international Mid-Season Playoffs in August.

According to the draw released by the organizers, the Vietnamese gamer is scheduled to face Brazil’s Reiss06 in the round of 16 on Friday.

His achievement marks a significant milestone for Vietnamese esports, as the tournament brings together many of the world’s top players.

Vietnam entered the championship with four representatives, including Tu, Nguyen Hoang Bao (GLOWxHoangBao), Le Gia Nam (FPLxGiaNam), and Nguyen Cong Dao (VIPxCONGDAO).

The group stage featured intense competition, with 32 players divided into eight groups of four.

Each group followed a single round-robin format, with every match consisting of two games.

Only the top two players in each group qualified for the knockout stage.

Of Vietnam’s four competitors, Tu was the only player to advance.

Tu won the 2026 FC Mobile Vietnam Super League, earning a prize of VND80 million (US$3,100).

In August, he continued his impressive performances at the FC Pro Mobile Mid-Season Playoffs in Bangkok, finishing as runner-up and collecting $20,000.

The result also secured him a direct qualification spot at the world championship.

Tu has emerged as one of Vietnam’s leading hopes in FC Mobile at the Seoul tournament.

World championship with $250,000 prize pool

Running from Wednesday to Sunday in Seoul, the FC Pro Mobile World Championship 2026 marks the first world championship in the history of the FC Pro Mobile competition series organized by EA Sports.

The tournament represents the pinnacle of the 2026 FC Mobile competitive season, bringing together elite players from multiple regions to compete for the world title.

The event features a total prize pool of $250,000.

The champion will take home $60,000, while the runner-up will receive $40,000.

The two players who finish joint third will each earn $20,000.

With the group stage complete, the tournament has entered the knockout phase, where every defeat means elimination.

The round of 16 matches are scheduled for Friday, with players competing in a best-of-three format.

The eight winners will advance to the quarterfinals on Saturday, where matches will expand to a maximum of six games.
