A recovered patient who was given the all-clear two weeks ago has retested positive for COVID-19 in Vietnam.
The patient in question hails from the northern province of Thai Binh, according to the local Center for Disease Control.
He was once recorded as Vietnam’s patient 1,138.
After returning to Vietnam from Russia on October 27, patient 1,138 was transferred to a concentrated quarantine facility in the northern province of Nam Dinh, where he was diagnosed with COVID-19.
On October 28, he was sent to the Nam Dinh Province General Hospital to receive treatment.
After rounds of tests, he was declared clear of the coronavirus on November 12 and was ordered to quarantine at home.
After a 14-day quarantine period, he was found positive for COVID-19 again, as per test results announced on Thursday by the Thai Binh Center for Disease Control.
The center also documented three individuals who came in close contact with patient 1,138.
Two of the three are not present in Thai Binh, while the other has tested negative for COVID-19 at the Thai Binh Lung Disease Hospital.
As of Sunday afternoon, Vietnam has reported 1,341 cases of COVID-19 infection, with 1,179 recoveries and 35 deaths, according to the Ministry of Health.
Tens of recovered patients have retested positive for the pathogen but no one has ever been confirmed to contract the virus from this group.
