The current Quang Tri Province is a merger of the former Quang Tri Province and neighboring Quang Binh Province, effective from July 1, as part of a recent major administrative restructuring in which Vietnam’s total number of provinces and cities was reduced to 34 from 63.
The administrative restructuring also resulted in local administrations being divided into provinces/cities and wards/communes.
The health station’s medical team provided emergency delivery assistance to the Lao woman named Mang Xon, a resident of Noong Ma Village, Bua La Pha District, Laos.
Both the mother and newborn are now in stable condition and are being cared for at the station.
On Wednesday, due to limited medical resources in her hometown, Mang Xon was taken by relatives to the Thuong Trach Health Station—the nearest medical facility in Vietnam from her hometown—after showing signs of labor.
Upon examination, the medical team there determined that her health was weak and the fetal heartbeat was unstable, prompting a decision to transfer her to a higher-level hospital.
Medical staff accompanied her during the transfer.
However, while en route, the woman went into labor and showed signs of imminent delivery.
The medical team acted swiftly and successfully assisted in the delivery right on the roadside.
This was Mang Xon’s fifth childbirth.
Authorities in Thuong Trach Commune visited the mother to offer support and commended the medical team for their prompt and responsible response.
