The activities took place within the framework of the official visit to Thailand by Vietnam’s Party chief and State President To Lam, which concluded on Friday.

Madame Ly wore a traditional outfit gifted earlier by the spouse of the Thai prime minister.

During their meeting, the two spouses expressed their pleasure at meeting for the first time in Thailand.

At the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, a landmark deeply rooted in Thailand’s history, culture, and spirituality, Madame Ly said she was impressed by the site’s intricate architecture, solemn atmosphere, and distinctive cultural value.

She noted that Vietnam and Thailand share many cultural and religious similarities, with Buddhism playing an important role in spiritual life and fostering values of humanity, harmony, and community solidarity.

She emphasized that preserving and promoting cultural and religious heritage is especially important in the modern era, not only to safeguard national traditions but also to educate younger generations about history, culture, and national identity.

The two spouses also visited the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, established under the patronage of Queen Sirikit to preserve Thailand’s traditional costumes and long-standing hand-weaving, embroidery and tailoring techniques.

The museum also honors Queen Sirikit’s contributions to the development of Thailand’s silk industry and the promotion of Thai culture internationally.

Opened to visitors in 2003, it has become a popular destination for international tourists.

At the museum, the two spouses listened to presentations and viewed displays of fine silk products, traditional garments, Thai royal costumes, and valuable artifacts related to the weaving industry.

Sharing that both Vietnam and Thailand possess long traditions in textiles and handicrafts, Madame Ly said each region and ethnic group in Vietnam has its own weaving techniques and patterns reflecting unique cultural identities.

She said the artifacts and silk pieces displayed at the museum, despite differences in motifs and styles, reflected cultural harmony between the two nations through their shared appreciation for tradition and national pride.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Thailand, Madame Ly expressed hope that the two countries would expand cooperation among fashion designers, fashion businesses, museums, and creative centers.

She also proposed promoting traditional Vietnamese and Thai textile products in international markets and studying the possibility of organizing fashion weeks, silk exhibitions, and traditional handicraft showcases featuring products from both countries.

In addition, she suggested using Vietnamese silk to make traditional Thai costumes and vice versa.
