According to a Duy Tan representative, the move is part of the company’s overall restructuring strategy aimed at reallocating resources to develop a circular economy through Duy Tan Recycling JSC.
The deal between Duy Tan and SCG comes as the plastics industry across Southeast Asia, including Vietnam, faces increasing pressure to transition toward green and sustainable practices.
Trade agreements such as the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement and the EU’s environmental policies under the European Green Deal require businesses to ensure supply chain transparency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and increase the use of recycled plastics in products.
Domestically, the government’s Decree 08/2022/ND-CP mandates extended producer responsibility, requiring companies to take responsibility for collecting and recycling plastic packaging starting 2024.
These developments are driving local plastic manufacturers to accelerate the transition to circular production models.
Duy Tan Recycling aims to become one of Southeast Asia’s leading high-tech plastic recycling enterprises.
The company currently operates a 'Bottle to Bottle' recycling line to convert used plastic bottles into new ones, which is considered among the most advanced in the industry.

Duy Tan Recycling has completed a comprehensive quality management system and obtained over 20 international standards and certifications.
Notably, the company meets stringent food safety requirements issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the European Food Safety Authority.
In 2023, Duy Tan Recycling became the first recycling enterprise in Vietnam to be certified as a high-tech enterprise by the Ministry of Science and Technology, recognizing its significant investments in technological innovation and creativity in the recycling sector.
The company’s plant is currently operating at a capacity of 100,000 metric tons of recycled plastic per year.
Between 2020 and 2024, the enterprise collected and recycled more than 80,000 metric tons of plastic waste, equivalent to about six billion PET bottles, substantially reducing environmental plastic waste and advancing the circular economy model in Vietnam.
Duy Tan Recycling’s recycled plastic products are supplied to several major domestic fast-moving consumer goods brands and exported internationally, signaling strong potential for the commercialization of internationally certified recycled plastics.
