Highlighting the long-standing ties between Vietnam and South Korea, the Prime Minister noted the growing number of Vietnamese people living in South Korea, South Koreans in Vietnam, and Vietnamese–Korean families.
He affirmed that regardless of circumstances, the Vietnam–South Korea relationship remains strong and stable, a foundation that fosters economic cooperation and investment between the two nations.
Roh Tae Moon expressed his appreciation for meeting PM Chinh on the occasion of South Korea’s 80th National Liberation Day (August 15) and ahead of Vietnam’s National Day celebrations (September 2).
He shared that Samsung’s total investment in Vietnam had reached US$23.2 billion as of last year.
In addition to Samsung Electronics, other subsidiaries such as Samsung Display and Samsung Electro-Mechanics are expanding their presence in Vietnam.
By the end of June this year, Samsung's mobile phone factories in Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen provinces in northern Vietnam had collectively produced two billion devices since April 2009.
In the first half of 2025, Samsung Vietnam recorded revenue of $31.8 billion, with exports totaling $28 billion.
Notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 7, labeled “Made in Vietnam” and launched in July, has received widespread acclaim in global markets, including the United States and Europe.
PM Chinh praised Samsung’s efforts, determination, and business achievements.
He reiterated Vietnam’s goals for 2025, including improving the investment climate, advancing three strategic breakthroughs, implementing a two-tiered local government model, and aiming for GDP growth of 8.3–8.5 percent in 2025 and double-digit growth between 2026 and 2031.
Vietnam, he said, is committed to rapid and sustainable development based on science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

The Prime Minister called on Samsung and Roh Tae Moon to continue supporting the Vietnamese government in realizing its strategic goals.
He expressed his hope that Samsung would remain a trusted partner in Vietnam’s journey toward economic and technological growth, further expanding its investment, especially in high-tech and R&D sectors.
The Vietnamese government leader encouraged the company to help develop Vietnam’s technology ecosystem, particularly in chip and electronics manufacturing, digital transformation, IT infrastructure, and high-quality human resource training.
He also urged Samsung to boost localization rates, transfer technology to Vietnam, and consider appointing Vietnamese professionals to leadership roles within Samsung Vietnam.
Thanking Vietnam for its ongoing support and for creating a favorable business environment, Roh Tae Moon reaffirmed Samsung Vietnam’s commitment to partnering with the government and contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.
He noted that since 2015, Samsung has implemented various programs to support Vietnam’s supporting industries.
In early 2025, Samsung Vietnam and the broader Samsung Group formed a rapid response team to systematically identify local suppliers and expand sourcing operations.
Once potential partners are identified, Samsung plans to focus on smart factory consulting to enhance competitiveness and provide expert training for manufacturing professionals.
