Vietnamese premier congratulates Mikhail Mishustin on reappointment as Russian PM

Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Tuesday offered his congratulations to Mikhail Mishustin over his reappointment as prime minister of Russia, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As dictated by law, Mishustin and all Cabinet members resigned after President Vladimir Putin's inauguration on May 7 following his re-election.

On May 10, Putin nominated Mishustin to continue leading the Cabinet and submitted the latter’s candidacy to the Duma, the lower house of Russia's parliament.

The Duma approved the nomination of Mishustin to return as prime minister on the same day.

He was backed by 375 deputies in the Duma, with none against and 57 abstentions.

Therefore, the Russian president signed an executive order reappointing Mishustin as Russian prime minister the same day.

Mishustin, 58, started holding the post as prime minister of Russia in January 2020.

He had served as head of the Federal Taxation Service for a decade before becoming prime minister.

The Duma on Monday approved 10 deputy prime ministers of the Russian government following the proposal made by Prime Minister Mishustin on Sunday last week.
