Vietnamese public security forces impress locals, visitors with martial arts, cavalry display

The event, organized by the Ministry of Public Security, drew large crowds to the city's beachfront roads.

According to the municipal Department of Public Security, invitations had been extended to local residents and visitors to attend the rehearsal sessions and the official opening ceremony in support of the public security forces.

The organizing board also provided 4,000 free seats for spectators at the venue.

Apart from the performances, attendees were given opportunities to interact with officers and soldiers, view specialized combat equipment and vehicles, and take photographs with participating units.

The opening ceremony featured a large-scale artistic and military display involving more than 2,000 officers and personnel.

The event treated locals and visitors to traditional drum performances, military band demonstrations, cavalry troop parades, martial arts and qigong exhibitions, live-fire target engagement demonstrations and firefighting and search-and-rescue exercises.

Major General Le Hong Hiep, deputy head of the Department of Political Affairs under the Ministry of Public Security, said this year's event was the largest in its history and introduced several notable firsts.

For the first time, the opening ceremony was held in the evening, while the program included night-time military firearms shooting combined with the use of operational smoke and explosive effects.

The event also debuts an obstacle course competition exclusively for female officers and adds new games such as short-stick combat, basketball, and open-water armed swimming.

The games are set to close on August 7.
