Vietnamese students earn awards at Huawei ICT competition

A Vietnamese delegation comprising nine university students has earned awards in three tracks at the 2024-25 Huawei ICT Competition Global Finals in China.

According to results recently announced by the organizers of the Huawei ICT Competition Global Finals in China's Shenzhen, the Vietnamese students won top honors, including first prizes in the Cloud Track, second prizes in the Computing Track, and third prizes in the Network Track.

This year’s competition featured four tracks, Cloud, Computing, Network, and Ascend AI, with the Vietnamese students competing in the first three.

The Cloud Track first prize was awarded to Bui Quoc An (Cryptographic Engineering Academy), Dau Van Khoa (Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology), and Tran Hai Dang (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology under Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City.

The Computing Track second prize went to Mai Thi Phuong and Nguyen Tu Kien (Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology), and Duong Van Hiep (FPT University, Hanoi).

The Network Track third prize belonged to Le Nhu Quynh and Dinh Hoang Anh (Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology), and Nguyen Le Hong Khanh (Hanoi University of Science and Technology).

This year’s competition drew over 210,000 students and lecturers from more than 2,000 colleges and universities across over 100 countries and territories.

6 Vietnamese students win medals at 2025 APIO

A Vietnamese high school team claimed six medals — including one gold — at the 2025 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) held in Uzbekistan.

The contest attracted 868 participants from 42 teams in the region.

The gold medal was awarded to Nguyen Bui Duc Dung, an 11th-grade student at the High School for Gifted Students in Natural Sciences under Vietnam National University-Hanoi.

Silver medals went to Le Kien Thanh, a 12th-grade student at Le Quy Don High School for Gifted Students in Binh Dinh Province, and Dang Huy Hau, a 10th-grade student at Thang Long High School for Gifted Students in Lam Dong Province.

The bronze medalists included 12th grader Ninh Quang Thang and two 11th graders Nguyen Huy Phong and Nguyen Xuan Chi Thanh, all from high schools for gifted students in Quang Ninh, Lao Cai, and Hanoi.

With this result, Vietnam ranked fifth overall — behind China, Russia, Japan, and South Korea — while maintaining its leading position among Southeast Asian countries.
