According to reports, the passengers had booked their tour through local travel company Vietravel, with the flight operated by Jetstar.

Jetstar initially announced that flight JQ62, scheduled to depart from Ho Chi Minh City to Sydney on the evening of July 13, would be rescheduled to 10:00 am on July 14, with an expected arrival in Sydney at 9:30 pm the same day.

Vietravel promptly sent an apology message to affected passengers and adjusted the itinerary.

The scheduled tour on July 14 was then moved to July 16 to avoid losing any destinations promised in the original tour.

The meeting time was also changed to 6:45 am on July 14 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City.

However, by the evening of July 14, passengers waiting at the airport were informed that even the 9:55 pm departure was still uncertain.

According to flight tracking data on Flightradar24 and passenger reports, the actual departure of flight JQ62 may be pushed to the following day.

This means the group could face a full two-day delay, not just the one-day delay initially announced.

Many passengers expressed outrage, noting that the damage extended beyond wasted time.

Their vacation plans were disrupted, leave schedules affected, and they faced extra expenses for accommodation and meals while waiting.

Overall, the delay significantly diminished the quality of their holiday.

In addition to the prolonged delay, passengers were upset that neither the international airline nor the tour operator had offered any compensation.

Compensation policies for delayed international flights tend to be clearly defined only for certain airlines and countries.

In this case, Vietnamese tour customers often find themselves stuck in a three-way relationship between the airline, the tour company, and themselves with no clear compensation responsibility.

According to staff at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, delays announced by international carriers are not uncommon and are usually communicated in advance.

However, since Jetstar is a foreign airline, the compensation process must go through their representatives—though not all airlines have official representatives in Vietnam.
