The pregnant woman was admitted at 38 weeks and two days of gestation, according to the hospital.

While her general condition was stable, she carried numerous risk factors, including chronic hypertension under ongoing treatment, gestational diabetes managed with daily insulin, and a history of gynecological surgeries, including open surgery for an ectopic pregnancy and uterine adhesiolysis.

This pregnancy was achieved through in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Doctors noted that at the age of 60, pregnancy and childbirth are no longer natural processes, but extremely demanding challenges for the cardiovascular system, endocrine function, and overall recovery, which naturally declines with age.

The patient faced potential complications such as cardiovascular events, stroke from high blood pressure, blood sugar fluctuations during and after surgery, uterine atony leading to hemorrhage, infections, and slow postoperative recovery.

Her two previous surgeries increased the risk of tissue adhesions, injury, and intraoperative bleeding, requiring every surgical step to be executed with precision and care.

Throughout the operation, alongside meticulous technical focus, Professor Dr. Nguyen Duy Anh, director of the hospital, continuously engaged with the mother, offering gentle encouragement and reassurance that helped her navigate the delicate moments of childbirth.

The long-awaited moment finally arrived when a healthy baby weighing 2.8 kilograms cried loudly, exhibiting strong reflexes–a simple sound that brought the operating room a collective sigh of relief.

Remarkably, the baby was born on March 20, International Day of Happiness, symbolically redefining the meaning of ‘happiness,’ which is the healthy first cry of a newborn, the safety of the mother following surgery, and the quiet, persistent dedication of the medical team.
