The Vietnamese players faced little difficulty in securing the straight-sets win.
The result not only brought them another victory but also marked a new milestone in the team’s history.
Prior to the match, Vietnam was ranked 31st in the world.
The 3-0 win added 6.17 points to their ranking, pushing them up to 30th place—the highest-ever position in Vietnamese women’s volleyball history.
Within Asia, Vietnam now ranks fourth, behind Japan (fifth in the world), China (sixth), and Thailand (14th).
This historic rise in the rankings reflects the team’s consistently strong performance over the past two years.
In the predecessor of the AVC Nations Cup, the AVC Challenge Cup, Vietnam claimed the championship titles in both 2023 and 2024.
The team also achieved other notable results, including finishing in the top four at the 2023 Asian Championship, reaching the top four at the 19th Asian Games, and winning the bronze medal at the 2024 FIVB Challenger Cup—an international-level tournament.
These accumulated achievements have contributed to Vietnam’s ascent in the global rankings.
The team’s position could improve even further if they continue to win, advance deep into the 2025 AVC Nations Cup, or successfully defend their championship title this year.
