The provincial Steering Committee 389 held a conference on Friday to review its recent large-scale campaign aimed at cracking down on smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and intellectual property violations.

The campaign, spanning 30 days, saw joint forces inspect 220 cases and uncover 102 violations.

Of those, 57 cases were formally tackled, with financial penalties contributing over $24,400 to the state treasury.

Le Van Phuoc, vice-chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, commended the coordinated efforts of local agencies and urged them to strengthen their role in proactively detecting and dismantling smuggling operations.

He emphasized the need to proactively eliminate smuggling networks, especially in critical border zones.

The Steering Committee 389 also honored three teams from the provincial police department, Vinh Xuong international border gate customs, and Nhon Hung border guard station, as well as five individuals for their excellence in combating smuggling and trade fraud in the province.

The 30-day campaign is part of broader efforts by local authorities across Vietnam to protect consumers and combat smuggling, trade fraud, and fake branded merchandise.
