Competing in Group A alongside Sweden’s David Pennor and Spain’s Joseba Escribano, Vinh drew 40-40 with Escribano in his opening match.
Facing elimination, Vinh delivered a dominant 40-5 victory over Pennor in just four innings to advance to the main draw.
Vinh’s performance included a rare 25-point run on his second inning, a feat seldom seen at World Cup events.
He finished the match with an average of 10 points per inning, surpassing the previous record of six set by Turkey’s Semih Sayginer in official events sanctioned by the Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB).
The 30-year-old has shown strong form internationally and domestically this year, raising hopes he could claim his first World Cup title.
The World Cup 3-Cushion 2025 in Antwerp, held from October 6 to 12, is the fifth stop on the 2025 UMB tour, following events in Bogotá, Ho Chi Minh City, Ankara, and Porto.
In addition to Vinh, Vietnamese players Nguyen Tran Thanh Tu and Chiem Hong Thai also advanced through qualifying, joining Tran Quyet Chien and Tran Thanh Luc in the main group stage.
