The results were announced at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2026 ceremony held on March 18 in London.

New Chitose Airport in Japan claimed the top spot in this category, followed by Chubu Centrair Nagoya in Japan, Bahrain International Airport in Bahrain, Osaka Itami in Japan, and Brisbane Airport in Australia.

Cam Ranh is Vietnam’s only representative among the top 10 cleanest airports in the category.

Back in 2025, the airport ranked seventh in the smaller category for airports handling fewer than 25 million passengers annually, according to Vietnam Television.

Its performance across both years demonstrates significant improvements in operations, particularly in service quality, environmental hygiene, and passenger experience.

Terminal T2, which opened in 2018 with architecture inspired by a swallow’s nest, has been praised for its bright, spacious design, and high-quality passenger amenities.

The airport provides a wide range of services, including VIP lounges, free Wi-Fi, medical and luggage support, special assistance for passengers with mobility challenges, and a Lost & Found counter.

Its facilities also excel in food and beverage areas, children’s play zones, designated smoking spaces, and the quality of its restrooms.

Situated near the tourist hub of Nha Trang, the airport serves as a key gateway for international visitors, having welcomed nearly 4.7 million international arrivals in 2025.

In just the first two months of 2026, close to one million foreign passengers passed through, up more than 18 percent year on year.

The airport is expected to handle over 5.2 million international visitors for the full year.

The 2026 World's Cleanest Airports awards recognized two categories: one for all airports and another for those handling up to 30 million passengers annually, with Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan maintaining its position as the cleanest airport overall.
