Vietnam’s central bank governor rated A+ again by Global Finance

At 57, Hong is one of only three central bank governors worldwide to receive an A+ rating, alongside U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Hayden Powell and Danish National Bank Governor Christian Kettel Thomsen.

This is the second time she has earned an A+ rating, following her first recognition in 2023.

Hong, who has led the central bank since November 2020, has been praised for her success in controlling inflation, stabilizing exchange rates, managing interest rates, and supporting economic growth.

Last year, she was also among seven governors ranked ‘A’ by Global Finance.

The Central Banker Report Cards, published annually by Global Finance since 1994, assesses central bank governors from nearly 100 key countries, territories, and districts, as well as institutions such as the European Union, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Bank of Central African States, and the Central Bank of West African States.

Grades range from A+ to F, assessing performance in inflation control, economic growth, currency stability, interest rate management, and political independence.

‘A’ denotes excellent performance, while ‘F’ indicates outright failure.

“Our annual Central Banker Report Cards recognizes those leaders who have not only delivered results but done so with independence, discipline, and strategic foresight,” said Global Finance founder and editorial director Joseph Giarraputo.

The full 2025 Central Banker Report Cards will be published in Global Finance’s October print and digital editions, and will also be available online at GFMag.com, according to the magazine.
